Welcome UNBELIEVER.
D/f'd and still attending? You must have a strong constitution!
this is my first post.
as i am currently disfellowshipped, i have no one else to discuss these things with.
even if i was actively associated with the dubs, i suppose i'd still have no one else to discuss this with.
Welcome UNBELIEVER.
D/f'd and still attending? You must have a strong constitution!
my wife just asked me this.
my answer, in no uncertain terms, is no.
we both grew up in the dub religion.
@ schnell - being the optimist, it sounds as if your wife is not too far away from fully waking up.
Her cuddly phrase, "the organization's faults" is used by J.W.'s to show that their org is imperfect, in order to mitigate any serious accusations against them.
A better phrase to use would be "critical flaws" - in order to highlight that many of the org's teachings and practices are not un-scriptural, but anti-scriptural.
Anything not mentioned in scriptures is by definition un-scriptural, (e.g. hamsters) but teachings & practices which pervert scriptures are anti-scriptural, and by extension, anti-Christ.
If any J.W. accuses me in future of being "negative" about the org, I'll reply that I'm pointing out critical flaws - which we are not allowed to discuss with anyone!
we are deeply indebted to wifibandit for such revealing documentation.. https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/5690963588546560/november-1-2016-all-bodies-elders-re-using-maintaining-kingdom-halls.

Incidents:
38. When property damage occurs, quick action can go far in preventing further damage. Break-ins, thefts, incidents of arson, or other acts of vandalism should be promptly reported to the local authorities.
However, if a child is raped by a J.W., such a matter should not be "promptly reported" to the local authorities in order to "prevent further damage." Rather, the elders must contact the Branch Office in order to seek advice on how to deal with the situation.
Such self-incriminating statements should prove to J.W. parents (and the world!) that the org's real estate empire is far more important than their children's lives!
Perhaps such a document should be referred to the A.R.C. for their edification.
i tend to be quite open about my experiences within the dub religion.
i've been out for a long, long time.
i'm now in my eighth decade.
:) Don't change S.B.!
well, i got myself in a dilemma.
i'm currently 18, being baptised for a year.
i had my doubts, but due to a variety of reasons (getting subtle flack for not baptised, not having a support system even if i wanted to leave).
Very good advice from sincere, non-judgmental well-wishers. I hope you take it, and greatly ease whatever pain will come.
Don't burn any bridges with your parents by disassociating - just gradually fade at your own pace.
As for your "friends" in the organization, they'll very quickly burn the bridges when your fading makes you appear "spiritually weak", but your parents will always be there for you - regardless of how your romance turns out.
Take things slowly, and have a good life!
i suppose it was just a matter of time till it happened.
i've faded, not been dfed or daed, for years now.
once they tracked me down and tried to reactivate me, but then i moved, and hopefully lost them.
@ JM - As far as I'm aware, DNC's (Do Not Calls) are listed on the back of every map of the congregation's territory. Unless that has stopped during the past 2 - 3 years.

Be prepared for a follow-up call by two elders - if you revealed your past association.
She would automatically give your details to the elders if she knew you were a "lost sheep."
in recent months i have personally experienced 3 times how jehovah's witnesses' thinking and ad hominem attacks are being molded by their masters in the wtbts.. 1) j.w.
family members have stated that i am no longer part of the family because i say "negative things" about the org.. 2) my closest friend in my former congregation complained several weeks ago that i was "finding fault" with the org every time we had a conversation.
nothing from him since.. 3) when reverse witnessing to an elder at a trolley recently, he accused me of "criticizing the organization.".
All sounds reasonable, D-D.

Not one accused me of speaking against God, Jesus, or the Bible - only against their "golden calf"!
Now the hierarchy has published this statement for Witnesses to quote;
WT February 2017 par.12, p.26 - "The Governing Body is neither inspired nor infallible. Therefore, it can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction." (In other words, they're only human, but it's still God's organization!!!)
Two points in response:
1) Very honest of them to admit that they're not inspired by God and that they have been wrong with some of their so-called Bible truths. It shows they're no different from any other religious leaders.
2) On the basis of their statement, shouldn't you be even more diligent and apply the Biblical command at 1 John 4:1 - "...do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." If they're not inspired by God, who is inspiring them?
The org is sacrosanct - anything/one else is fair game. Devotion to the org is non-negotiable.
that admission in the feb.17 ,study edition of the watchtower , " who is leading gods people today ?
" "the governing body is neither inspired, nor infallible, therefore it (they/we) can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction .".
have the many jehovahs witnesses past and present who have lost their lives by refusing blood transfusions due to the prohibition on blood tranfusions by jehovahs witnesses really got the sense of this statement ?.
@ smiddy - good post.
We've been handed a loaded gun by the Magnificent Seven in Brooklyn/Warwick.
Let's use it whenever an opportunity arises.
